PIONEERING INNOVATION AND RESEARCH

The creation of the Rothman Index was the commencement of our work

Ten years ago the Rothman brothers developed the Rothman Index (RI), which has emerged as the clinical gold standard for visualizing and trending patient condition. Today, the Rothman Society for Innovation and Research continues that work, created to house all research, testing and development related to the RI.

Our mission is open to all: whether a partner client of our sister organization PeraHealth, or an independent researcher keen to test the RI in an original research effort. We welcome anyone who wishes to collaborate and engage in rigorous scientific discussion around refining and improving the RI and its application.

News and Events

EVENT: TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE WITH DATA 2018

In order to improve health outcomes in our communities, we must harness the power and potential of data analytics and collaborative partnerships. Join us in Roanoke, Virginia for our partners at Carilion Clinic's "Transforming Healthcare with Data Symposium" this August.

Research: Sepsis Screening

The Rothman Index predicts patient deterioration across all disease categories. The research team is studying the use of the RI to screen for sepsis specifically.

Research: Adult Readmissions

In conjunction with 5 Rothman Society hospital partners, the research team is building a 30-day unplanned readmission prediction model for adults.

Research: Pediatric Readmissions

In partnership with CHOC, the research team has recently submitted a paper on the RSIR model to predict 30-day unplanned readmissions for pediatrics.

Webinar: Predicting Unplanned Readmissions With the Pediatric Rothman Index

Register for the Rothman Society’s second Research Focus webinar, as we turn our attention to reducing unplanned readmissions among children. Dr. Feaster will be joined by Louis Ehwerhemuepha, PhD, one of the lead data scientists who helped develop CHOC’s model.

“One of the things that we’ve realized is how much more there is yet to learn.  The Society is really the way that powers us forward.” - Michael Rothman, Chief Science Officer
